What Is The Gospel?

How Can I Be Right With God?

This is life’s most important question and the answer to it will mean Heaven or Hell, life or death, eternity with Christ or an eternity rightly suffering the punishment for your sins. Are you right with God? Do you have peace with God? If you died today, where would you go? If you stood at the gates of Heaven today, and God asked, “Why should you be allowed in?”, what would you say to Him? What is the Gospel anyway, you might wonder? Please watch the short videos below to learn the Biblical answer to this question.

But I Prayed A Prayer And Nothing Changed

There is a common teaching in many evangelical and Baptist churches in this generation that says that if you pray a prayer asking Jesus into our heart, you will be saved.

This is a great, tragic lie and has led numerous people to hell with a false hope that they are a Christian simply by repeating a prayer. We are not to have faith in our prayer, but in Christ’s finished work on the cross. Jesus said the fruits of real faith are not words, but a changed life that follows Him!

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” – Luke 6:46

The Wrath of God - Your biggest Problem

The average person thinks their biggest problem is their bad habits, their empty bank account, their poor health, or their bad luck. The Bible says that man’s biggest problem is the wrath (righteous anger, judgment) of God against sinners who reject God, run after their sinful desires, and make themselves the lord and ruler of their own life.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,” – Romans 1:18

Your Good Will Never Outweigh Your Bad

Most people think that they will be able to pass God’s judgment at the end of their life because their good deeds will be more than their bad deeds. This is a lie that will bring a person down to Hell. Your good deeds are not good in God’s eyes. The Bible says that there is not one good person in the world. Trying to save yourself from your sins in this way is to say that your good deeds can replace the death of Christ on the cross for sinners.

“As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, not even one; there is none who understands, there is none who seeks for God; all have turned aside, together they have become useless; there is none who does good, there is not even one.” – Romans 2:10-12

So What Is The Gospel Then?

If our good works can’t make up for our sin, if we can’t wash away our own sin with a ‘good’ life, how can we be saved from God’s judgment? Your only hope is that Someone would love an undeserving sinner enough to take your place, to put your sin on their own shoulders, and take the wrath of God for you. Who can do such a thing? Only Jesus Christ the Savior! What is the Gospel? Repent and believe in Him, be saved from the penalty and power of sin!

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12

Does God Really Save People And Make Them A New Creation In Christ?

God still saves people in the same way, by the same message of the Gospel, as He has done since the beginning of the Church. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. God is still saving people today by His Gospel of grace and radically changing their lives by the work of His Holy Spirit. He is a loving, merciful Savior and if you do not know Him, He calls to you today to repent, turn from your sin and believe in the Savior of mankind, Jesus Christ!

“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come,’ and let the one who hears say, ‘Come,’ And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.” – Revelation 22:17
